This should prove interesting...
Appearance:
Yrael can change his appearance at will. For most of the RP, however, the important forms will be of a cat, and of a man.
In either form he will appear, even to those who sense magic, to be nothing more than what he appears- a man or cat. If you want your character to be able to sense more, please check with me first. ^_^
Cat: A white cat of mixed heritage. Shorthair and erring on the thin side, he's light enough to ride along your shoulders without too much trouble, or hide in a pack. His eyes are a shade of green that's too bright to seem natural, but are the only odd thing about him. (Besides the talking thing) As a cat he will introduce himself and answer to Mogget.
Man: A tall man with a slight but muscular build. Nearly albino, pale skin and short hair that is sometimes the faintest blond and sometimes pure white. His eyes though, are brilliant, almost glowing green, with pupils and iris just a bit too large and unsettling. He always wears white- normally just a loose long sleeved white shirt and white pants. In human form, Yrael does his best to be attractive- but his face can sometimes be considered too ethereal, a little too symmetrical and perfect. As a man he will most often introduce himself and answer to Yrael.
True Form: A vaguely humanoid upper torso of white flame supported by a column of white fire, nearly too bright to look at. A face of sorts can be seen in darker shapes and shadows nearly hidden by the light. This form is always accompanied by the smell of metal: acrid and strong, and burnt ozone.
Personality:
Cynical, Callous, and Snarky. Mogget is always willing to insult and demean anything he feels is foolish (and pretty much any opportunity that comes up). Thousands of years of servitude (and some of it more uncomfortable than others) will do that to you. Not to mention he's a creature of no small power.
He won't miss a chance to embarrass someone either, or remind people of their weaknesses- especially when they're trying to be brave.
That said- Mogget/Yrael seems to like life and for all his wit and snark will help as much as he can when it's needed.
Well, maybe with a bit of prodding.
If he's not too tired.
One should probably mention that pissing him off can have negative effects.
And he may possibly be quite mad.
Abilities:
Shape changing: Any shape he wishes, though the form is always white. Magic: He can use free magic, though those powers are limited due to much of the channels being destroyed. He can also sense magic and abilities in others, and 'scent' aspects of their personality and history.
History:
Mogget is an ancient creature of Free Magic who was bound into service for the Abhorsen (A type of necromancer who puts down the dead others rise).
"I have a variety of names," replied the cat. It had a strange voice, half-mew, half-purr, with hissing on the vowels. "You may call me Mogget. As to what I am, I was once many things, but now I am only several. Primiarily, I am a servant of the Abhorsen. Unless you would be kind enough to remove my collar?"
Mogget was originally Yrael, one of the Nine Bright Shiners. (Think of the Endless- these are similar). In the beginning, there was nothing, and from that nothing formed Free Magic of which all things come from and return to. But Free Magic was chaotic, uncontrolled, it would destroy before it would build, ungoverned by thought or motive. Of the endless sea of Free Magic came nine of the greatest powers- the Nine Bright Shiners. They existed as beings with thoughts and abilities and knowledge. Seven of Shiners wished to create a more controlled force- a "Charter' of marks and magic that could be used to create and keep the newest of life safe. Of the others, Orannis (who was one of the strongest) refused to submit himself to order, preferring his existence in chaos. Yrael decided to wait, not wishing to choose any side at all.
Though it took great work to do, and Orannis could not be destroyed, only bound and made harmless, the Seven bound him and spent their existence into making the Charter, converting most of the free magic into a useable, governed form. Yrael they punished for hiding away from their battle and bound him in servitude to the Abhorsen, a family line they charged with keeping Free Magic and the Dead down.
After thousands of years in servitude to the Abhorsen line, Yrael was finally freed to stand against Orannis who had attempted to rise again. When the battle had finished, he was free to live as he chose –
He isn't too certain how he feels about that yet.
